Have your say

The Climate Change Authority engages with people across Australia to inform its independent advice and support informed discussion about climate change policy. We value diverse perspectives and use what we learn through engagement to strengthen the quality, relevance and credibility of our work.

Why engagement matters

We believe better conversations lead to better climate policy. Climate change affects every community, region and industry in Australia.

We engage with people across Australia to:

  • improve the quality of our advice to government
  • understand different experiences, challenges and opportunities
  • test policy ideas against what works in practice
  • support informed public discussion about climate change.

Our goal is to be a trusted source of independent climate advice and information.

How engagement improves our advice

Engagement helps us produce practical, evidence-based and relevant advice.

Listening to people and organisations allows us to:

  • understand challenges and opportunities across different sectors and communities
  • test assumptions and policy options
  • identify regional and community impacts
  • strengthen trust in our advice.

We are committed to explaining how stakeholder feedback has informed our work and contributed to our advice.

Who we engage with

We engage widely so our advice reflects the full range of Australian experiences and perspectives,

We seek input from:

  • community members
  • First Nations peoples
  • businesses and industry groups
  • researchers and experts
  • environmental and advocacy organisations
  • local, state, territory and federal governments
  • international counterparts.

Engaging diverse voices helps our advice reflects a wide range of knowledge, experiences and perspectives.
